Well it’s official. Kitchener-Waterloo sure knows how to put on a rock concert! How many of you music fans attended the Big Music Fest? While I may have missed Saturday’s Moist, Collective Soul, STYX and Bryan Adams, I sure did enjoy the performances of Big Wreck, Slash and Arrowsmith on Sunday. Not only was it nice to see such big acts locally, but it was a great excuse to outfit watch. What could be better?!
On such a hot day, attendees dressed in all sorts of ensembles from band tees and jeans to classic music festival outfits including floral dresses and high-waisted short shorts. On stage, stylings were a little more “rock and roll” with Arrowsmith’s Steven Tyler taking fashion to new heights. According to Tyler, when it comes to fashion:
If it is worth doing, it is worth overdoing.
Can I say I loved it! Taking the stage in a pink floppy hat, floral coat and leopard print scarf, Tyler was certainly making a fashion statement. Best known for his androgynous rocker style, no two outfits are ever the same. Lover of leather, prints and all things leopard, Tyler entertains as much with his clothes as with his vocals.
As you know, I’m androgynous. I can wear a jacket that most guys wouldn’t put on. But you make it in guys’ sizes, and suddenly they’re wearing them. I think styles should get back to getting people to wear things that look so good that they don’t care.
I love his confidence! Wear what you want and don’t be afraid to take a few risks with your clothing choices readers. Remember, fashion should be fun!
Are you a rock and roll diva at heart? I know I can’t get enough leather! Work one or two of these pieces into your daily outfits and you’ll be on your way to unleashing your inner rock idol…in a wearable way of course! Go for leather jackets, vintage t-shirts, black denim or leggings, high-heeled boots, large handbags, and red lipstick. Here’s Arrowsmith performing Love in an Elevator Sunday night.
Now if only I could learn a few of Tyler’s dance moves…:)
